This fifth-grader introduced her physical education class to a new game that also gave classmates a glimpse into her daily life. Nutt is blind, and taught students and teachers to play “Goal Ball,” the only team sport sponsored by the Paralympics for visually impaired athletes. The game uses a ball with bells to try and score on the opponent’s goal.

Chris Bennett
Marlton
Bennett, a 60-year-old from Marlton, represented the United States in the International Tennis Federation’s Seniors World Team Championships in France where he played for the Von Cramm Cup, which is the specific trophy for the men in his age group. This championship marks Bennett’s fourth time representing the United States.

Tommy Dodson
Haddonfield
Haddonfield High School’s Dodson won the singles title at this year’s South Jersey Interscholastic Championships on May 23. The senior defeated Pitman’s Zac Castagna in the three- set match, losing the first set only to come back strong in the second two. Dodson also helped Haddonfield win the Group 1 state championship and finish with a 25-9 record.

Medford
Shawnee’s first doubles team captured titles at the South Jersey Interscholastic Championships and the Burlington County Open this season. The boys are the first in Shawnee history to take first at the South Jersey Interscholastic Championships, and advanced in the NJSIAA state doubles tournament’s third round before the end of the season.
